I heard it.
Last night Dave pulled me outside and said “Listen.” Lo and behold, there they were. Spring Peepers. One of my favorite sounds in the world. These little frogs are one of the first signs of Spring here and their noisy little songs are like a bright spot on a dark winter day. So, bring it on winter (maybe I shouldn’t say that too loud) Spring has started to sing!

I was so honored to be contacted by Shannon from The Maternal Lens. An awesome blog created by 5 women who love photography, what could be better?! Each Thursday they do an interview with a different photographer to showcase images and tell a bit more about the person behind the lens. I was beyond happy when she asked me to contribute and to be part of a list of some quite amazing photographers. You can check out my post and a few others by clicking HERE. You may even learn a few things about me that you never wanted to know :) And I have cleaned up my Christmas tree by now I promise!
From their site:
“We are mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, sewers, scrappers, organic growing, organic knowing, ski loving, beach bumming, knitters, hikers, walkers, chefs, boo boo healers, laundry folding, web surfing, fashionistas, coffee drinking, tea brewers, signing, singing, designing, crafting, dreaming, art loving, music digging, baby birthing, bloggers, friends who love photography.” Did you get all that? Seems like quite a wonderful bunch of women to me!

My parents are two of the most amazing people. Kind, generous, fun…the kind of people that can make any day an incredible one. They are just as delighted by one another as they were in 9th grade homeroom when my Dad fell off of his chair to catch her attention.
They love my boys so thoroughly and I don’t think I could ever express how grateful I am to have them be such an integral part of my life. I am just so lucky.

By far, one of my favorite parts of the Christmas season is making cookies. When my grandmother was still around, we used to get together every holiday and bake. I couldn’t have been happier…..a flour-y mess, with sticky dough-covered fingers and a belly full of kisses. She called them “Peanut Butter Blossoms”, I call them a little piece of heaven!

1 Cup sugar 2tsp. vanilla
1Cup packed brown sugar 3 Cups Flour
1 Cup creamy peanut butter 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 Cup butter softened 1 tsp baking powder
2 eggs 1 tsp salt
1/4 Cup milk 2 bags of kisses
Cream butter, sugars and peanut butter. Beat in eggs, milk and vanilla. Sift together flour, soda, powder and salt. Stir dry mixture into the egg mixture. Chill 1 hour. Shape into small balls and roll in a bit of granulated sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet, flattening the center of each cookie slightly with your thumb. Bake in preheated oven at 375 for 10-12 mins. Immediately press a kiss onto each cookie and thoroughly cool on cookie racks.

Happy New Years everyone!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of my clients this year! I send my warmest holiday wishes to you and your families this Christmas season. I am officially closed for the next week to spend time with friends and family…and of course to eat cookies!!! I will be back the first week of January and will officially open my 2010 session calendar. I already have quite a waiting list so if you are thinking of booking a session this year…..don’t wait!

I hit the beach with my own little men on one spectacular night. To say that they are into airplanes right now is the understatement of the century….it is more like an obsession. Words cannot express how much I love these two amazing boys and how much I treasure these images. I know they won’t be little forever but I will always be able to reminisce and get all sappy with my pictures. I suppose this is why I “do what I do” and why I get all emotional about taking portraits for other families. It simply means so very much to me.
I am headed out of town for the weekend for some much needed rest with just my hubby. My house will be full of people trying to manage my two boys while we are away:) I will return all phone calls and email on Monday!
